New Zealand PR criteria


To be eligible for New Zealand PR visa, you need to meet the following criteria’s.

 

1. Age:

To apply for New Zealand PR visa, you must be 55 years of age or under when receiving the Invitation.

 

2. Qualification:

You must hold recognized qualification minimum level 3 to 6 from designated institutions. If you availed qualification from a recognized institution, then you need not go for qualification assessment. However, if you obtained your qualification from an unrecognized institution, it is mandatory to get a qualification assessment from INZ before applying for your EOI.

 

3. Work Experience:

You must hold a minimum of two years of professional work experience in the past ten years. Please note you must have relevant qualifications before starting that work experience; this work experience will be considered professional work experience.

 

4. Occupation in demand:

If you want to apply for an NZ residence visa, make sure your occupation must be in the Long-Term Skill Shortage List (LTSSL) demand.

 

5. English language ability:

To apply for New Zealand PR visa, You and your family need to show that you can speak and understand English by passing a test. Minimum IELTS Overall score of 6.5 or more for the primary applicant and dependent need to show 5.0 bands overall.

You can write one of the following language exams to prove your English language proficiency:

  •  IELTS — General or Academic Module
  •  TOEFL
  •  PTE Academic
  •  OET

 

6. Points:

To apply for NZ PR, you need to score a minimum of 100 points, these points based on your age, qualification, work experience, employment, etc.

 

How to Apply for the New Zealand PR process from Sri Lanka


To apply for New Zealand PR visa, you need to follow the below steps carefully.

    • Eligibility Check:

Before filing for a New Zealand residence visa, you must check your eligibility. For example, are you meeting NZ PR visa criteria in terms of points,

occupation in demand,
age limit,
language proficiency,
your health and
character requirements.

 

    • NZQA Assessment:
      If you obtained your qualification from outside of NZ, then the New Zealand qualification assessment is necessary. However, if your overseas qualification is recognized and on the List of Qualifications Exempt from Assessment, you need not go for NZQA. The purpose of NZQA is to verify your education credentials and compare them to the New Zealand qualification framework.

 

    • Submit an Expression of Interest (EOI):
      NZ EOI is an electronic pool where the applicants need to provide basic information about their interest to settle in New Zealand. NZ – EOI is a two-stage process where they first need to submit information and second the selection of profile and issue invitation.
      New Zealand Expression of Interest (EOI) fee is NZD 530, and NZ – EOI is valid for six months.

 

    • Received invitation:
      If your EOI is successful, you will get an invitation to submit your residence application and instruction to complete further steps and forms along with the New Zealand PR fee NZD 3310, you can pay the New Zealand Residence visa application fee by credit card only.
      INZ will assess to determine whether your claim relating to age, recognized qualification, skilled work experience, language proficiency, etc. factors, and any other criteria are true.

 

    • Receive Residence Visa/ PR visa:
      Here INZ authority verifies the credentials and information submitted by the applicant. If you are assessed positive, then you will be granted a residence visa. Now you can fly to New Zealand with your family.
